Amazon, the online book retailer, is expected to unveil its newest e-reader on Tuesday at its investor day.
The device will be the company’s newest offering in the “smart device category,” the Wall Street Journal reported.
The Amazon Kindle Voyage is expected at Amazon’s annual investor meeting in the fall.
Amazon will unveil the new Kindle at the company and will show off its new devices, including the Kindle Voyes, the Journal reported citing people familiar with the matter.
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has been bullish on e-readers, but has been less vocal on the technology itself.
In the past, he has said the Kindle was “not going to replace the iPad,” a statement he later backtracked on.
Amazon has said it is working to release the Kindle Paperwhite, its next-generation e-book reader, but it is unclear if that is a device that will launch in time for the holidays.
The Kindle Paperblack is expected in November.
Amazon and Microsoft also have products in the Kindle e-commerce space.
Amazon’s new devices are expected to be launched sometime in the first half of 2020, the Wall St. Journal reported, citing people with knowledge of the matter and Amazon’s stock price.
